“Homesickness hit me hard, I miss home, my language…everything. It would be nice if I could teleport to home by removing any of the tiles.”

(5) Cantonese

After leaving home, I really don’t have a chance to speak or listen to Cantonese, my mother tongue. I could no longer hear my parents yell “Sik Faan Lah”, which means time to eat, and “Faai D Lah”, Quick. I could no longer respond to them impatiently with “Gi Lah” and “Dug Lah” that kinda means fine, I got it. And I can’t even say the basics like “Waii”, means Hey and “Haii Ah” means yes, yea, to others, but keep it to myself and say it when I talk on the phone with my family and friends. It’s very exhausting that I can’t use the most comfortable language to express myself, I don’t have a choice because there’s nobody who has the same cultural background as me. Anyways, I really miss those ‘Cantonese-only’ days.

(6) Lion Rock

Every time I go home from East Kowloon or from Chai Wan, I could see Lion Rock through the window of the train, the bus, and my family’s car. Its existence is like reminding me of the spirit of Lion Rock and how much I have grown up; my thought is different every time I look at it.

(13) Blue Sky

Miss those days that I could only see the blue sky through the gaps between the high-rise buildings.

(15) Bakery Goods

I miss those days that I could have these bakery goods for breakfast for the whole week with my family.

The closest two crusted buns: Pineapple Buns, the one with sesame on top: Cocktail Bun;

Egg Tarts, Ham and Egg Bun, Chicken Pie , Sausage Roll, and Swiss Roll.
